Sweet Potato Pie easy recipe.


Would you like a sweet potato pie easy recipe? In the last days I have been thinking about doing a Pumpkin pie, no need to make it only for Thanksgiving day.

I believe we can enjoy all year round, however I was thinking doing it of another ingredients, sweet ones, and it come to my mind the following ingredients: Sweet potato´s, carrots, beets, red pepper… (¿?) and so far if you think of something else, you are welcome to comment me!

So I will do a Series of Pies that I will be posting in my IG @momandusblog if you want to follow them I will save them in highlights.

This is an Sweet potato easy recipe and everyone can do it at their home. I use a oven pan for pie´s but you can use a crystal one (for oven) and foil paper pan (you can get them in the market 3 for $ 2.00)

Base Dough pie

  • 200 gr of flour (2 cups)
  • 100 gr of cold butter (2 sticks)
  • Salt
  • 6 tbs cold Water
  • 1 tbs Cider vinegar


  • 1 sweet potato ( medium size)
  • 1 yolks 1 full egg (you can add up to 2 yolks)
  • 1 can condensed milk
  • 1 tsp of nutmeg
  • 1 tbsp of cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp of ginger
  • 1 tsp clove
  • 1 tsp salt

Preparation for the Dough Crust:

Put in a bowl the flour with frozen butter and mix ( I´ll do it with a fork, but you can try the food processor), mix and add the cold water, keep mixing and add the cider vinegar, mixing all until you can use your hands and make a ball and easy to maneuver like in this picture.

Save it in film paper and save in the fridge for at least half an hour, (it could be for more hours).

Later bake in preheated oven to 425 F, roll out the pie crust, fit it in the pie dish, then trim and flute the edges. To avoid fluffing too much you can put dry beans or if you don’t have, add rice like I did. Leave them 30 mins or when golden, after that time, take them out and leave it outside until cold.

Filling preparation

I cut the sweet potato for its easy coction and I like to steam it, but you can foil it and put it in the oven. Whichever seems easier to you. I like this way because while I´m doing the Dough Crust it cooks easily and for peeling is faster.

I steamed it for 20-30 mins or until it seems ready, usually the skins gets loose.

After is cooked, I peel it and put in a bowl, it’s easy as mix all the ingredients then, fill up the pie crust and put it into the oven 350 F for 40-50 mins or until knife inserted near center comes out clean.

Retire the pie and leave out until cold. You can eat it cold or natural.
